During these times of social distancing and stay-at-home orders due to the novel Coronavirus; many of us at Waypoint have found ourselves with more time on our hands than usual. Without the day-to-day hustle and bustle; many of us have had the chance to dive deeper into our passions and hobbies. Many Waypointers have centered their focus on lending a helping hand in the space of analytics visualization (our specialty) and crafting home made supplies for healthcare workers.
Alex Blinksi, a senior consultant at Waypoint, has taken it upon himself to visualize the data available from John’s Hopkins and has created a free dashboard available now on our website for anyone to utilize. There is a lot of information about the outbreak, but it is still hard to find clear answers to basic questions which is what initially prompted Alex and our team to take the data and build the dashboard. In order to answer the most common questions we have, and have heard our clients asking; our team focused in on global case outbreaks, flattening the curve and county level drill-downs. It is our hope that this dashboard is helpful and can lend some much needed insight into these uncertain times.

Another Waypointer, Lydia Black who is a senior consultant at Waypoint, has also been keeping herself busy when she is not governing data for our clients. Lydia has taken it upon herself to fill her free time with reusable face mask making for local healthcare providers and those in need. In just the period of one week, she was able to churn out over 350 masks with more being made everyday. Waypoint is proud to have Lydia on our team and our employees are supporting her efforts by collecting supplies so that she can continue to distribute these masks to the front-line providers who need them.
COVID-19 is undoubtedly a global crisis with far-reaching and devastating truths. We hope that by sharing some of the “good points” we can help to inspire and shed some light on the positive actions that our team is taking in order to help combat COVID-19 and the many challenges that we all face. If you are interested in learning more about the COVID-19 data visualization or would like to learn more about donating supplies to help Lydia create more masks please reach out to Danielle Harley firstname.lastname@example.org.
